PMA Codes

Produce Marketing Association (PMA) codes can now be stored in SMARTSystem. A PMA Code is very similar to a UPC code it is just produced by a different company.

A new field has been added under the inventory item to store up to a 14 character code:

Setup

  1. The PMA codes can be imported using the Inventory Import program (File - Import - Inventory) using an excel spreadsheet
  2. One PMA code can be set for each subcategory and will override entries in the inventory table under this subcategory.

  1. Or each inventory item can have it's own PMA code.
  2. Select Use Consolidated Format for Standard Invoice under Invoice Options in System Control

  1. Check General UPC for Invoice Only under the Customer Maintenance screen (for each customer using the PMA Codes)

When printing the invoice it will:

  1. Group the products within each sales order that have a PMA code by PMA Code, Pack and Price.
  2. The PMA Description will be retrieved from the PMA Description table and that PMA Description will be shown instead of the product description.
  3. The total quantity for all products of the same PMA code with the same pack and price will be shown and totaled.
  4. The PMA Code and the barcode containing the PMA Code will be shown on its own line below the PMA Code description and quantity line like it is now.
  5. Group products without a PMA code Subcategory code, pack and price.
  6. The Subcategory description will be retrieved from the Subcategory table and printed with the total quantity for all items with the same subcategory code, pack and price.
  7. The General UPC text and General UPC Barcode will be printed on a separate line below the subcategory and quantity line.
