Taking a Deposit with POS

Here is the workflow to show how to take a deposit using a POS Sales Order.

1. Make sure that this check box is un-checked in System Control

2. Create a Prebook order with the product you need. A good example would be an advance wedding order.

3. Put in your deposit amount and accept payment, the balance due will then change

4. You can print a receipt by double clicking on the Balance Due which brings up the Payment Editor

5.  The print out will look like this:

6. This will then flow through the end of day to your accounting system as a payment on this sales order.

7. The refund on the deposit will have to be done through your accounting system and payment provider (if a credit card was used). You can make a note of this on the invoice comments

8. As the Sales order is still a Pre-Book you can make any changes at the time of converting to a sales order (when the Wedding order is finalized)

9. Then you can convert to a sales order and take the balance of the payment, which will create an invoice for the customer.
